Lunchtime Concerts bring the joy of live organ music into the heart of the day. These short, expressive performances offer a refreshing cultural pause, accessible to all. Discover the diversity of participating organists and the beauty of the pipe organ in a relaxed, welcoming format.
Maryna Schmiedlin-Pinchukova comes from Vitebsk (Marc Chagall’s home town) in Belarus. She began her musical training at a young age with the best teachers in her country. She studied piano and organ at the conservatory in Minsk and was awarded numerous prizes. In 2022, she completed her studies with a Master of Arts in Musical Performance at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, specialising in organ (Martin Sander), choir direction (Raphael Immoos) and orchestra conducting (Rodolfo Fischer). She honed her skills and rounded off her training in various further courses and masterclasses with Wolfgang Zerer, Arvid Gast, Franz Danksagmüller, Pieter van Dijk, Monserrat Torrent, Sietze de Vries (improvisation), Thomas Ospital, Johannes Schläfli (orchestra conducting), Nicolas Pasquet (orchestra conducting) and many others.
Maryna Schmiedlin maintains a active concert schedule as a soloist in Switzerland and throughout Europe and is a sought-after accompanist. She is responsible for the church music at the Bruder Klaus Catholic Church in Liestal since 2022. She is also involved in numerous choir director engagements and is a committed leader of the veteran‘s choir of the Basler Liedertafel 1852 and the Reinacher Kantorei for several years. Promoting organ culture is something else she is passionate about. She is dedicated to teaching young people and creates new formats with great excitement to make organ music available to a large audience and inspire them. One example of this is Appetizer! Lunchtime concerts on the organ.
Maryna Schmiedlin is the winner of the Justin Heinrich Knecht Special Prize 2017 and she won the Hans Balmer Foundation Special Prize in 2022. She was also a finalist in the Grand Prix Florentz in Le Mans (France) in 2022.
